Version 3.0 Weed Identification Key Patch and Upgrade:

A bug had been found in the weed identification keys that prevents the "Copy" button from copying the results of a weed identification search into the Windows clipboard. In the process of fixing this bug we decided to add functionality that has been requested by our customers over the last year. The free upgrade includes the following fixes and added functionality:

- Fixed the "Copy" button bug so search results can be copied to the Windows clipboard for pasting into another program for viewing and printing

- Enhanced the "Copy" button functionality to provide a full search report including a listing of search criteria settings used in the search, output of the "Species" search in the broadleaf and grass key, and output of the "Family" search in the broadleaf key.

- Added search results "persistence" so the user can click on a family or species in the search output to jump to the matching plant family or weed species home page. When the user returns to the key the results of the search will still be in the search output box until the user clicks on the "Reset" button to start a new search. This allows the user to check all the species in the search output if needed without generating a new search each time she returns to the key home page. Current behavior is the search fields will be cleared and reset for a new search when the user returns.

- Fixed a bug that sometimes returned an erroneous "No matches" message when there should have been matching weeds.

Key upgrade downloading and installation instructions:

This upgrade consists of two rather large files (out of the hundreds in the program) that need to replace the existing matching files on the users hard drive. These upgrade files will only work if the program has been copied to the users hard drive. It is not possible to update the DVD-ROM at this time.

Click on the link below to download a .ZIP file containing two files that should be unzipped and copied over the existing matching files on your hard drive. The files in the ZIP file are "broadkey.tbk" and "keypalet.tbk". After you unzip the files copy them into the directory on your hard drive where you installed the program. When Windows asks if you want to replace the existing files with the new files click on "Yes". That is all there is to it!

Click here to download the update files (4 MB)!

You will need a utility capable of decompressing standard "zip" files such as PKZIP, WINZIP, etc.
